Laugarvatn Fontana
Fontana sits on the shore of Lake Laugarvatn, about an hour from Reykjavík, and runs on the geothermal water underneath it: hot pools at assorted temperatures and natural steam rooms that do not mess around. A small pier leads into the lake itself for a cold plunge, a pastime best left to Finns and the otherwise unhinged, though the hot tubs are only a short sprint away. The separate half-hour Rye Bread Tour walks from reception to the lakeside geothermal bakery, where loaves spend 24 hours buried in hot sand. The Grapevine found the result "dense, chewy and sweet"; you eat as much as you like, with smoked trout. Swimsuits and towels can be rented. A sound way to finish a Golden Circle day.

What's included
Admission to the geothermal baths, natural steam baths and the use of shower and changing rooms with personal locker. Shampoo, conditioner, creams and cotton pads are available in locker rooms free of charge.
What to bring
Guests need swimsuit and a towel. However, you don't need to bring anything, both swimsuit, dressing gown and towels are available for rent and sale on spot for a reasonable price.
Good to know
Children younger than 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Max 2 per person older than 18 years.
