Monster Truck on Langjökull
Sleipnir is an eight-wheeled monster bus that rolls over crevasses as if they were speed bumps, and the ride up onto Langjökull is half the point. You meet at the upper Gullfoss car park, transfer to the truck base and climb about 30 km onto Iceland's second-largest glacier, where a pop-up café serves hot chocolate and kleinur, you drink water straight off the ice and, weather permitting, sledge the slopes or putt a round of glacier golf. The ice-cave version walks you into a natural cave streaked with black ash from old eruptions; when Grapevine rode Sleipnir out to a newly found one, they came back describing a cathedral of ice in a dozen shades of blue. Four hours from Gullfoss; a Golden Circle combination runs from Reykjavík. Which cave is open depends on the ice.

- Tour duration is subject to road and weather conditions. The tour can vary from 3 hours to 4 hours.
- Autumn transfers from Gullfoss to the main Monster truck base are operated by highland bus, while winter departures leave directly from the Gullfoss Cafe parking lot in the red Monster truck.
- The tour involves walking through snow and over uneven ground with steps inside the cave.

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour.
For all bookings of day tours, a minimum of 24 hours' notice prior to your scheduled departure is required in order to receive a full refund. If a cancellation is made with less than 24 hours notice, no refund is given.
For all bookings of multi-day and custom private tours, a minimum of 72 hours' notice prior to your scheduled departure is required in order to receive a full refund. If a cancellation is made with less than 72 hours' notice, no refund is given*
