If you turn right just before Borgarnes, you’ll come upon a less-traveled fjord that’s rich with sights. This is Borgarfjörður, a lava land filled with rivers, streams, and some of the most awe-inspiring waterfalls in the country. Don’t miss the powerful Deildartunguhver hot spring, the historical town of the Reykhólt, the impressive Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, the top-notch restaurant at Hotel Húsafell, and, of course, the Langjökull glacier.

About this tour

The tour will take you to the hot springs of Deildartunguhver, which has the highest flow in Europe (180 litres per second at 97°C!), the water is used to provide heating for the towns of Borgarnes and Akranes.

You will also be driven to the wonderful Hraunfoss cascading falls, fed from beneath an ancient lava flow. You then go into the Ice cave where man made ice tunnels take you into the glacier, surrounded by crystal clear blue ice which makes you feel like you are in another world.

This is an ideal excursion in Iceland for those who want to combine scenery with some action.
