Hvammsvík Hot Springs
Hvammsvík has topped Grapevine's Best of Reykjavík panel four years running, three times as Best Spa and now as Best Lagoon; "the best lagoon in all of Iceland," one panellist said. It sits on the Hvalfjörður shore, 45 minutes from the city on a road that went quiet when the tunnel opened. There are eight pools of different sizes and temperatures, filled with geothermal water cut with seawater, plus a steam bath and a swim-up bar. One pool is so close to the waterline that high tide takes it back. Seals have been known to come and look. It is smaller than most spas, so book ahead. Minimum age is ten, and no public transport comes near it: drive, or take the 4.5-hour round trip by bus from BSÍ.

What to bring
Guests are encouraged to bring their own swimsuits, towels, and wading shoes if they wish. All items are also available for rent on site if needed.
Please remember to stay hydrated while bathing in the hot water. Still water is available free of charge at the bar, or you are welcome to bring your own bottle and refill it at the taps.

For all bookings of day tours, a minimum of 24 hours' notice prior to your scheduled departure is required in order to receive a full refund. If a cancellation is made with less than 24 hours notice, no refund is given.
