Beluga Whale Sanctuary
The world's first open-water sanctuary built for beluga whales, run by SEA LIFE TRUST. Little White and Little Grey were taken as calves, spent years performing in a Shanghai aquarium, and were flown to Iceland in 2019 to see out their lives in a sheltered bay. The visitor centre tells that story, and an Animal Welfare Assessment Window lets you watch the care team and vets genuinely at work while the whales are in the landside facility. Alongside it sits a puffin rescue centre and an aquarium of native species, so you leave knowing considerably more about the water around this island than you did an hour earlier. Allow an hour.
