About Grillmarkaðurinn
Chef Hrefna Sætran's second restaurant, opened in 2011 in a building rebuilt to look like Nýja bíó, the 1920s cinema that burned down on this corner in 1998. The idea is casual fine dining where guests are expected to enjoy themselves: charcoal-grilled chicken wings, crispy dried fish and squid, duck breast and horse tenderloin, cocktails built on rhubarb and blueberry. Prices are fine-dining and the room is one of the busiest in town. Grapevine's verdict after a summer visit was simply that the Grill Market experience "was a good one. It usually is." Dinner only; book ahead.
