Northern Lights Tour
Aurora hunting needs four things: the right season (September through March), a decent forecast, a cloudless night and proper darkness. The first three are out of anyone's hands. The fourth means leaving town, and going with a guide means someone else reads the cloud-cover maps, picks the direction and stands out in the cold while you wait in a warm minibus until called. Two small-group options pick up in Reykjavík. EastWest runs a four-hour trip for up to 19 people, with wool blankets, hot chocolate, Icelandic pastries and free photos if conditions allow. Aurora Viking stays out five hours, with cocoa, gingerbread and Viking outfits and weapons to pose with during the wait. Nobody can promise lights, so both let you rebook for free if the sky stays blank.

About this tour
We at Aurora Viking have decades of experience in guiding people to the Northern Lights and we have realized that entertainment is a crucial part of the excursion, especially if we have to wait for the Aurora to come out.
We have great cameras to capture high definition pictures that you can then print out after a tour where we get lucky and spot the Aurora!
In order to make the excursion more fun and to live up to the name Aurora Viking we have Viking weapons and outfits sourced at a local museum to play with and take night time pictures which sometimes come out really nicely.
To have keep our energy high we have plenty of hot chocolate and Gingerbread.
Your guide for this tour will also delve in to the connection between the Vikings and the Aurora.
We are so confident in our high hit rate that we offer unlimited free re-bookings until you get to see the aurora. Valid one year from your first attempt.
Seeing an auroral band with the naked eye counts as seeing the Aurora, seeing faint auroras only through the camera lens does not count.
If no lights are spotted on a northern lights tour you can join us again another day for free. Just notify us by sending an email before 15:00 the following day to make a re-booking (subject to availability).
If luck does not favor us on the first night and you rebook the experience, you must show up for the tour or notify us with at least 24 hours notice that you will not be able to make it. If you do not show up for your rebooked tour the unlimited retry option is forfeit.
