Icelandic HorseWorld

Icelandic HorseWorld is a horse farm at Skeiðvellir, near Hella, that also takes people who have no intention of riding. The 40-minute stable visit walks you through the barn, introduces the horses at nose level and explains the breed: on the island since the settlement, imports banned for a thousand years, and any horse that leaves can never come back. Children can brush one and try a short ride in the indoor hall. For everyone else, from age ten, there are one- and two-hour rides on soft, broad tracks, the longer one starting with instruction in the hall and built around the tölt, and a 4.5-hour ride across rivers, lava and meadow with Hekla in view and lunch in the grass by an old well.

About this tour

We ride for an hour on good, soft and fairly broad tracks with views over volcanoes and glaciers, we may see the young horses playing in the fields and we will hear and see plenty of Icelandic birds. The tracks are easy for the horses which means you can concentrate on the view and enjoying the ride. Depending on your experience and how much we tölt, we can vary this ride so that we are sure we will never run out of trails.

Cancellation

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the tour.

For all bookings of day tours, a minimum of 24 hours' notice prior to your scheduled departure is required in order to receive a full refund. If a cancellation is made with less than 24 hours notice, no refund is given.

For all bookings of multi-day and custom private tours, a minimum of 72 hours' notice prior to your scheduled departure is required in order to receive a full refund. If a cancellation is made with less than 72 hours' notice, no refund is given*
