The Golden circle is the name commonly given to a combination of three sites of special significance in the west of Iceland. These sites are, Þingvellir National park, Geysir and Gullfoss. In addition to these stops, we also visit the volcanic crater lake of Kerið.

Golden Circle Day Tour

The Golden Circle delivers travellers to a trio of classics a stone's throw from the capital: Þingvellir national park, the Geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss. It is Iceland's most popular route: not crowded like Venice, but not tranquil like some advertising may lead you to believe. The Grapevine recommends a guided tour for this one, which frees up your eyes for the view. At Geysir the main act is Strokkur, erupting roughly every five minutes; at Gullfoss the view changes every few metres along the path. These are eight-to-eleven-hour bus trips with BusTravel Iceland, Nicetravel or Arctic Adventures, picking up in Reykjavík. Most add Kerið, the crater Arctic Adventures bought in 2023; the longest end with a soak at the Blue Lagoon, admission included. Lunch is not.

PLEASE NOTE: The 1200 tour is slightly shorter at 7 hours, 1000kr cheaper & does not include a stop at Kerið.

Our day tour will take you to all these essential stops and more as we share with you some of the highlights of Icelandic history and nature  all in one magnificent route through the Icelandic countryside.

The Golden circle is one of the most popular day tours in Iceland thanks to how accessible it is and how much it has to offer. You have the Þingvellir national park which was home to the world's first parliament as well as the site of the silfra fissure were the american and eurasian tectonic plates are separating. There is also Gullfoss the golden waterfall, one of the largest waterfalls in Iceland and the Geothermal paradise of Geysir where you can see frequent hot spring eruptions.

Please note we only visit Kerið crater on our early tours. We do  not visit this site on the 12:00 or later departures.
