Fálkaklettur Via Ferrata
A brand-new addition to Iceland’s most-hiked mountain, Esja. Via ferrata, “iron path” in Italian, refers to protected climbing routes, originating in the Alps but now found all over the world. The route offers a new approach to Esjan and a new view, and is overall a pleasant and thrilling experience, including a cable bridge. No prior climbing experience is required, and the tour takes around three hours.

Climbing the rock is a great achievement and an unforgettable experience. We offer tours daily with an instructor and rental equipment. The tour starts from Esja Hiking Center (Esjustofa) and takes 2-3 hours.
What is Via Ferrata?
Via ferrata (meaning iron path in Italian) originates in the European Alps but is now a popular sport all over the world. It is a protected climbing route with steel cables, which the climber clips into using specialized climbing equipment.
