Kayaking by Kirkjufell
Most people photograph Kirkjufell from Kirkjufellsfoss, along with everyone else. Vestur Adventures in Grundarfjörður puts you at sea level instead. You are zipped into a dry suit, gloves, shoes and life jacket (wear thin wool underneath), shown how to paddle and pushed off the beach. The guiding covers the mountain, the Arrowhead to Game of Thrones viewers, and a nearby puffin island with a dramatic backstory. Midway there is a stop ashore, and you may be handed truffle seaweed straight from the water, a taste that lingers all day. On Grapevine's trip a seal and a stray puffin came for a look. The two-hour tour, about 70 minutes of it at sea, starts at Sæból 14 and ends with a hot drink. Minimum age 10.

What to bring
We recommend wearing something comfortable under the drysuit, ideally thin merino wool clothing and dress according to weather.

We have tandem kayaks for children 10-15 years old to ride in with an adult.
