About Næs

When Slippurinn closed in 2025 after fourteen seasons it left a hole in Icelandic cooking, never mind in Vestmannaeyjar. Næs is what the same family did next, run by chef Gísli Matt, and it works the same seam: small plates built for sharing, a few larger dishes, natural wine and proper cocktails, and a menu that moves with the season and with whatever the boats actually landed that morning. Much of it is foraged off the island's own lava fields and shoreline. It runs seasonally, roughly June through September, it is small, and it books out. Plan ahead rather than wandering in hopefully.
