About Kol Restaurant
Near the top of Skólavörðustígur, a few steps below Hallgrímskirkja, Kol cooks over a large charcoal fire that you can watch from the cellar seats. Wooden floors and ceilings, bronze and dark tones, and a bar that has placed three of the top five in the Icelandic mixology championships. Grapevine's review found the rib eye "cooked perfectly, a nice sear on the outside, yet red and juicy", alongside beef tacos, tequila ceviche, duck mini-burgers and confit de canard. Mid-to-upper prices; open from lunch, later on weekends.
