About Himalayan Spice

A Nepalese family restaurant that opened in a small nook on Laugavegur in 2018 and moved to a bigger, airier room on Geirsgata by the harbour, prayer flags and Himalayan murals included. Grapevine's Best Indian in 2022 and runner-up again in 2025, though the food is Nepali rather than Indian: momo dumplings in three kinds, chatpate, lamb sekuwa, Newari choila, a thakali thali served in brass bowls, mustang aloo. The kitchen does not tone down the chilli for local palates; Grapevine's 2025 verdict was that these cooks "are not fucking around". Dinner from four; book on weekends.
