About Litlibær

At the tip of a fjord opening, just when you feel that nature is truly at the forefront, a small sign reads “welcome” on the side of the road and beckons you to stop. Inside a small turf house, a hospitable Icelandic family greets you and presents your afternoon tea: hot pastries, cakes and pies fresh out of the oven, crispy waffles, and your choice of coffee or tea, with vegan options too. The blueberries in the cake come from the local mountainside and the rhubarb in the pie was grown in the garden outside. Adorning the wooden walls are pictures of the families who used to live here — ancestors of the family who own it today. The turf house is part of the National Museum, which restored it.
