Bakken on Frakkastígur is possibly Reykjavík's smallest bar and as a reflection of its size, it also has Reykjavík's smallest pile of krónur for a beer. To rephrase a common Icelandic saying, it's been longer than the oldest men can remember since this kingdom of inflation has seen sub-800 krónur beers, but here in this Danish-named bar you can get just that, a proper Danish price for a Dutch Heineken. The little downtown shed has a long history of notorious bars, but now it's a kitsch and cosy Mikkeller-selling establishment. If their Instagram is to be believed, it is also frequented by Jack Black. There is a pub quiz every Thursday at 21:00, an early-bird menu from 10:00 to 16:00, and a sandwich-and-beer deal for 3,490 ISK.
